48hrs with the iPad
Firstly and most importantly don’t take this device out and about, a constant flow of complete strangers will touch you, prod you and interrogate you.
Thats what came from the first few hours of having this incredible device.
After 48hrs I really don’t want to be parted from the iPad to be honest.

Being an avid reader its the book store and newspapers that really catch my eye. The New York Times is excellent but USA Today is really incredible, so vibrant and warm, it really gives the experience of an actual newspaper in your hand.
These in my opinion are the killer apps, this is a content device full stop.

Twitter on the iPad is no contest, its Tweetdeck all the way, well done to my buddy Iain Dodsworth on this, it totally rocks.

Email, I have not had a chance to set up exchange yet but the integration with Gmail is as sweet as can be to be honest.

This might sound like a complete out of character gushing review from me but I spent last night with 10-15 of the smartest bloggers/tech commentators in the country and the only complaint?
“Well its a little heavy”
I think the difficult issue here is going to be where to place the device, for me this is a coffee table book, it will stay in your home, its a companion for browsing, its multimedia, its a TV remote control, hell in six weeks I am positive it will draw your curtains.
Don’t leave home with it.

Nice article!
I wonder how people will look at you when using the device. Are they drooling or acting like they don’t give a ****?
Again nice article and have fun with the iPad.. I want one myself!
ps: one little detail, Copyrights 2007-2008? Update it and your blog will be 10/10 =)
Nice piece it seems even those of us who were not blown over by the idea of the ipad at the Apple introduction are now firmly in its corner.
I prepared a comment, but now I’ll just drool!
What’s the sound like? What about heat dissipation?
Draws curtains. Check.
Plays sweet music. Check.
Lights scented candles. WTF! It doesn’t light scented candles! FAIL!

Having just bought an iPhone, mildly interested in one of these devices, although would wait till the next generation.
I’m trying to save up for one… But it’s not going to well.
And I have a feeling my feeling towards it will be similar to yours. Not fair…
Noooooo!!! Don’t make me want this!!!
Think I just sussed the need for the iPad — the over 40′s are now ruling commerce and our fingers aren’t as nimble nor our eyesights as sharp in dealing with the little mobile keypads and screens.
Congrats on the deal for the SIMs http://www.independent.ie/business/irish/local-firm-takes-global-lead-on-sims-for-ipad-2131159.html — well done for a little Irish company, eh?!
2nd pat’s comments.

Great for couch surfing and absolutly incredible for news papers.
Got a 4 country with transadlantic trip coming up
Just to finish that

Thanks
