“Beating The Recession”

7C
I have just finished reading the fantastic “Beating The Recession” by Neil Hughes.
I am a business book addict and picked up a copy of this from no less than the author himself a few weeks ago.
After a terrible run of Irish business books this one was a joy.
The important thing to remember is “This book is designed to help businesses successfully trade through tough times and after going through the usual “builders books” and “where did it all go wrong books” was definitely a breath of fresh air.
Neil ties the whole tone of the book into the Seven Cs of Business Recovery.
Counsel, Communication, Co-operation, Clarity, Costs, Cash and Customers
I really enjoyed the last two the most to be honest. This is a well written book by one of Ireland’s top accountants and well worth a read. As usual in any review I do a copy of Neils book goes to the best comment.

The only question I’d have is why is the “Irish” part of it of any importance?

Surely the business “rules” are the same everywhere?

Is there an order of importance to the 7 C’s ? Just trying to think here, and I’m trying to put them in a little bit of order, but not really getting anywhere.

I’ve added it to my Amazon wishlist anyway.

Apparently the recession will be over this summer. A man said it on the radio so it must be true.

So the new seven C’s will be Cappuccino, Cocaine, Cartier, Chanel, Chateaus & Caribbean Cruises.

    Looking forwards to it :)

Thanks Pat. I read his post Michele and the Irish bit is not important IMHO. The author is Irish but the content and message are not headlined as Irish or for Irish businesses.

Exactly as you say – within reason the core principals work anywhere and everywhere.

The euro symbol on the flag on the cover of the book is the wrong way around. It looks ok at first glance, but given the orientation of the flag it should be the other way. Not that I’m pedantic or anything. As my Mother always says ‘look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves’.
