Best use of Twitter for business, well done Boingo

So as usual my flight out of Heathrow back to Cork on Aer Lingus is delayed, 7th time in a row. I sent a shout out on twitter to my friend @johnpeavoy, we kind of have a running joke regarding Aer Lingus time keeping out of Heathrow.

Instantly I got a Twitter message from Boingo asking would I like a free login for wifi in Heathrow.

I know that PR rockstar Jeremy Pepper is responsible for the Boingo account, besides thanking him I am grateful to him for waking us up to the amazing business potential of Twitter

Very inspiring use of Twitter for business purposes indeed.

Both Twitter and Jeremy Pepper got bumped in my book :)

    Pat,
I have taken your advice as you have seen and I created a Twitter account but I am unable to receive Twitter updates via IM.
I’m only brining this up because you are The Twitter Guru in my book and am curious if it’s just broken or am I unable to get IM updates like I can on Jaiku?

Great great case. I think the “lazy web” ask for hey, anyone know any hotels near Heathrow type tweets are ideal fodder for “hotel social marketing” (i.e. Pat, Paul stayed with us and ranked us quite highly on TouristR….)

So useful to get a real-world example of a way to market via twitter. I still haven’t set foot in twiiter land, but this gives me some ideas for sure.

For just a couple of lines of text they [boingo] just got a small but extremely positive bit of publicity.

I have concluded the greatest Twitter business potential often lies in a lesser amount of actual tweeting.
