Captain America’s the balloon guy rocked
People might think I am making this up but the highlight of our lunch in Captain America’s today was the balloon guy.

The rest was a joke
Me to server, whats the soup? “ehhh, uhhhmm, I don’t know” whilst she rolled her lip piercing with her tongue
Coke arrived instead of diet coke.
Soup was mushroom, pretty good actually but accompanied by those little par-baked buns which someone had forgot to move beyond the par-bake stage.
Chilli Con Carne was nuked and had rice under it whilst being nuked, not only shocking but reheated rice is a really bad source of salmonella
2 burgers both untouched
Scampi out of a bag deep fried
Mrs Phelan’s tea again came with mains, at least the cup was clean.

all mains were left there as you can see from below, waiter asked did you enjoy your food whilst lifting plates full of food off the table.
What do you think Sherlock?

Roll on next week, suggested venues appreciated.

This might sound all rather fun if it wasn’t almost €100 for a lunch with no alcoholic beverages

O.M.G. Scary stuff. Thanks for the warning!
it’s now just scary how many “bad sunday lunches” I have been getting. I take Charlotte, my dad, and my niece out to Sunday lunch. Cost is about €60 usually. How hard is it to do these simple meals? How hard is it to tell someone this is the menu, this is what it means, this is what the customer is likely to ask?
Everything in Captain America’s ranges from the average to the terrible. Eddie Rocket’s across the street is fairly good for a burger, if a tad overpriced.
Definitely suggest the following:-
The Rising Tide, Glounthane
The Bosun, Monkstown
Mount Oval Bar, Rochestown
Tried, tested and approved by the Peavoy quality control inspectors…..
I love Captain America’s in Dublin, never had a bad experience there. Well, except for that time I ordered tap water. But that was my own fault.
Did you complain to the staff or manager or just do the typical Irish thing and complain to the everybody after you had left the place?
If you didn’t complain, you essentially paid just shy of €100 to not be fed. I’d happily not feed you for half that if you want to swing by my place sometime :oP
That’s outrageous though - Irish people need to complain more. About everything!
Oh no! We’re regulars at the Dublin restaurant and were planning a visit over the weekend to the Corkonian variation.
Will give it a wide berth now - any other suggestions for somewhere nice in Cork City??
I’m a big fan of il Padrino’s, on cook street.
@thebadambassador
I should be entitled to good food not an argument every time I go to eat Sunday lunch
@Mr .T food is good in il Padrino if overpriced especially for Sunday Lunch, what I don’t like is being served by a bunch of pre-perostrika Georgians with grumpy mutts.
Quite - but you should also be entitled to value for money and food provides nourishment as opposed to salmonella..
To each their own - I don’t mean to judge, belittle or antagonise - but if they aren’t told their food is unacceptable they aren’t likely to change as long as the bottom line is good.
Opened Capt A’s on Grafton St. Dublin in 1971 with Mark Kavanagh and ran it for the next 15 years.Horrified to hear your remarks re Cork. That wouldn’t have happened in my day, Pat. If you want a really good burger give me a shout and I’ll cook it personally….
