Its the third iteration and its definitely getting to where we want to be with lots more to come soon.
So whats new?

Lots of phones, a nice selection of the most popular Nokia phones with Sony Ericsson and other models coming soon.
All these phones have never been locked and are perfect for the global traveler.
We also managed to get our hands on some of the new unlocked Nokia 3G CS-10 broandband dongles which should make a perfect addition to the global road warrior’s backpack.

One of my personal gripes on the road is power, I always end up with the wrong plug and the wrong adapter so I pushed to get a full selection of power supplies/mobile chargers on the site, I think my favorite here is the Helios Emergency Charger.
Finally and most important one of my partners has scoured the planet for a stock of never locked iPhone 3GS’s, these can be used with any network, no worries about upgrading Apple software. These handsets are incredible and avoids the penalty that we all pay to our carriers for the 18 month contracts.
A whole turn of engineering work was completed at the same time as the new store.

We are beginning to get ready for the next series of releases on MAXroam.
Its been a while coming but we now have a global team working on it and its moving rapidly.
This week has been extremely positive though
Today we executed on a series of price reductions. The average savings to our customers are as follows
Cost of an SMS reduced by 10.69%
Cost of calling voicemail reduced by 11.87%
Cost of incoming call reduced by 11.87%
Cost of outgoing call to a landline reduced by 11.67%
Cost of outgoing call to a cell reduced by 12.00%

Well I hope I wont be hanging of a Spanish balcony trying to do a TC50 interview with Michael Arrington this year.
I cant believe its nine months since we nervously launched MAXroam in San Francisco.
Its been a wild ride but its turned out amazingly good.

We have customers in 52 countries, alliances in Europe and the USA, Operators breathing down our necks begging to go back to the good old days and a fantastic team.

We were doing a rough estimates yesterday and we reckon we passed in early May a million dollars saved in roaming fees by our customers.
This is a tremendous milestone for us and we are exceptionally proud of the fact that we have kept a million in our customers pocket and away from the fat cats of the telephony world.

Heres hoping that the next nine months are as good and that we get to TC50 as guests this year.

Its been a very long quarter as we have had lots of backend work going on which makes people think we are doing nothing. We have worked incredibly hard and are now delighted with the results.

1. Live billing
We now have full live billing for all users on our backend, make a call, hang up and we instantly display it.

2. Add a local number
As of today we can add local FIXED line numbers to your MAXroam sim from 52 countries.(MAXroam only use fixed line numbers unlike other companies which use international mobile or premium UK mobile numbers where the average users have no knowledge of what it costs to dial the SIM and your friends are just subsidizing your roaming).This list is being added to every day. These numbers begin at €1.05 per month and you can pick up, drop as many as you like, minimum commitment is only a month.

3. Free Call forwarding
When you arrive in your destination sometimes you have access to a hotel room or an office number, we will now allow to forward all your MAXroam numbers totally free to fixed line numbers in a list of 48 countries so you are roaming for ZERO COST

4. SMS only 5c
Once you log into your MAXroam account we will allow all users to send SMS anywhere in the world from the backend for only 5c per message

So whats in calendar?
We are working on USA roaming,Global prepaid data, SIM to SIM calls, lots of sales, we shipped a huge order to Maplins UK today (pics below) , more countries, more coverage, free calls via web, a Hong Kong office to add to our Vancouver, Miami offices and better prices.We are only at the beginning of the product and are working night and day to end the roaming rip off globally.

This is a real serious one for us: Maplins with almost 250 stores in the UK and Ireland, a million hits a month to its website, and turnover approaching £200 million have signed an agreement with MAXroam to stock its SIMS online and in their stores nationwide.

World’s First Borderless SIM Launches to Eliminate Extortionate Roaming Charges

CORK, Ireland – 13th December, 2007 – Cubic Telecom today announced the launch of MAXroam, a new mobile roaming product that allows anyone to reduce their mobile phone bill by as much as 80 per cent while traveling abroad. MAXroam is the world’s first universal SIM and is being launched to consumers in the UK and Ireland through Maplin’s network of high street stores, as well as via the Maplin product directory and online at their website

MAXroam was launched to offer consumers the best country-to-country phone rates anywhere. The service dramatically reduces costs for both the callers and the recipients of roaming phone calls, by using local, in-country numbers, effectively making all global calls local calls.

The MAXroam SIM can be used in any standard GSM mobile phone, and there is nothing to download and no applications to install. Customers are given a local number in their home country and another local number in the country they are traveling to. You can either forward your calls or leave a message telling your callers you are traveling, informing them of your new number. MAXroam can currently be used in over 160 countries around the world.

The deal with Maplin will make the MAXroam SIM available on the high street in time for Christmas and means that anyone who regularly travels abroad – for business or pleasure – could find the money-saving SIM in their Christmas stocking.

Once purchased the SIM is easy to register and users can add as many as 50 different numbers to the SIM – choosing local numbers from a choice of more than 40 countries, or creating additional numbers for you to give to different groups of friends or business colleagues – all for a small monthly fee. The phone is then used on a ‘pay as you go’ basis, with credit top-ups easily added through users’ account page on the MAXroam website.
