Just back from VON.x
An excellent show where video came to the forefront. I got to pitch a few questions at Loic LeMeur regarding his post Is there a future for local startups?

For me the highlight was our St Patrick’s Day party where I gave a brief demonstration of our citizen journalism kit.
I was using a Verizon broadband dongle connected to a cradlepoint device synced with a Nokia N95, picture below is thanks to Sheryl.

The Cradlepoint (get it here , tell Kevin I sent you) is a personal hotspot creator which allows me to stream wireless over wifi thus ensuring perfect quality on QIK. All that remains is to find a high quality bluetooth microphone and TV quality streaming is there for the taking.

Yesterday was insane with meetings and zipping here there and everywhere and I missed what really convinced me to come to VON.x.
Ken proposed life to Sheryl and I wasn’t there to catch it, he showed me the ring on Sunday as we had chatted about his plan earlier.
I am so happy for both of them, their happiness is clear for all of us to see and I would like to take this moment of downtime to wish them both many years of future happiness.

All going well here in Von, finally got to meet the extraordinarily cool Mrs. Helene Abramson accompanied by her mobile geekmeister husband and uber communications guy Andy.
The lovely Sheryl is as nice in the flesh and I had hoped for, her partner and my friend Ken Camp looks at least 10 years younger than last year so all that love must be working.

This morning was all about Mr Von himself Jeff Pulver who put on one of his social network breakfasts at the centre, Huge bunch of people, Luca, James Body,The two Dean’s, Jim Courtney, a bunch from Mig33 and tons others, it really is a very cool idea.
