Comreg bows down to Vodafone in 24hrs-shock-horror-surprise

In what must be a world record Comreg approved a 400% rise in 1850 access costs yesterday to Vodafone in under 24hrs
Temper this to Damien waiting 3 years for information and you will really see what licensed telecoms companies are up against in Ireland.
So why 1850 and why the massive increase?
This number range is primarily used by phone card companies to get calls from mobiles back to their switches.
Vodafone have decided to launch its own long distance rates and aided and abetted by Comreg have just shut the door on any opposition.

If you take a glance @ the Vodafone Call Abroad site you will see that UK, Europe, USA, Canada, and North Africa are over 1 euro and China is 5c, in the words of my favourite Canadian
Pretty fair, eh?
vodafone

To make matter worse its 49c to call an Irish landline and 49c to call a non vodafone mobile whilst its 9c to call Poland and 5c to call China
prepay_plans

Talk about penalizing your customers.
Shame on you Vodafone.

maybe people can get revenge on Vodafone by using those new cheap rates to reach callthrough numbers abroad, then back to Ireland or anywhere else
