Eircom MusicHub, Spotify for your laptop?

Eircom MusicHub allows you to stream for free around 5 million tracks if you’re an Eircom customer which as the moment I am not so hence a free account to test. I am a paying Spotify customer though and this is the closest thing to this I have tried. If you are an existing Eircom customer then you can sign up with your account number and phone number and straight away start streaming music for free! The basic package for existing customers is free, it only allows for streaming, there are two other packages from €5.99 to €12.99, these allow you to download tracks but I am happy to listen to music while I work at weekends  on the laptop.

The selection is pretty complete everything from The Smiths to Simple Minds to Jay-Z,  €6.99 a month gets you access if you aren’t an Eircom customer which is comparable to Spotify and certainly beats what I spend on iTunes a month. I think its a watch this space and see for Eircom, I like it a lot and have already invested in a nice set of laptop speakers to pump it up a little. I think though as a retention tool it will work perfect for Eircom. I haven’t had many friends mention it to me but with over a million customers this could be huge  especially at only 32c a download which makes its hugely competitive against the average iTunes download.

Get me a mobile version and you got yourself a new customer guys
