Fedex Sucks-Irish companies please avoid
Well as usual Fedex are appalling in Ireland. One of our partners forgot how bad they are and shipped a package to us.
They treat Ireland as a little outpost and their customer service besides lying is just downright useless.
Evert has had the exact same if not worse treatment as us.
We receive DHL packages every day at Cubic without an issue but every Fedex package comes with issues, driver sick, waiting until 9pm in office for deliveries, no one available to sign when the office is 100% open, vat issues and finally customs issues.
A package was dispatched to us from outside Ireland on the 18th on the most expensive transit available, its still not here and isn’t expected for two more days.
I am worn out from calling these guys and have been messed around, promised calls back (are you listening Nicola) , have been told that the package is in Stansted when I know and the people in customs Dublin know that the package is there as they have contacted the shipper for “more details”
Finally I got a hold of the Dublin customs office of Fedex today and was told “oh didn’t Barbara call you, its lying here, just pay the duty and we can try to get it released before the new year”
Its beyond a joke plus its an inter company transfer so no duty is due but they wont listen to that hence another €328 to get it released.
If you are a business in Ireland please avoid these jokers like the plague.

Agreed Pat, We’ve had bad experiences with them too. Customer service is very poor. I’ve actually had to pay for a courier to collect incoming goods from FedEx at Dublin Airport. Despite paying for door to door service, they couldnt deliver it within their promised time frame and i couldnt deal with their delays and lies.
Pat, you should get the names of their management from my blog and look them up. Most are on Linkedin. Me? I’m waiting for another Fedex delivery stuck in Dublin. Oh and yes, I *did* lose that customer in Isreal.
I agree Pat, FEDEX is useless for import into Ireland, they constantly ignore declared value of goods and make up their own value.
Customer Services is not existing and ever since they integrated nightline their service is so bad, that anybody telling me they use fedex is not getting my business.
I am also using DHL for regular shipment from the US and they always call and tell you what revenue wants on import and when you can expect the goods.
Fedex reminds me of GLS at the time when the USPS was still using GLS, they were a nightmare. GLS now is actualy great, I think the fact that they don’t have to deal with USPS parcels anymore, made them better.
They had a package of mine in customs for 10days then when it cleared they had the nerve to charge me 72 euro handling charge or some crap. WTF ???
Thanks for the heads up Pat, I’ve been trying to decide between DHL and FedEx …. decision made.

However, all these large shipping companies have different issues in different locales. DHL is crap here in the US, which is why they are closing up shop here except for International shipments. FedEx Express has been good to me, except in Hawaii where they don’t know where anything is. FedEx ground is crap everywhere. UPS has been fairly consistent for me for domestic stuff, even in Hawaii.
I’ve come to the conclusion that it must be collusion, since all the courier firms are equally crap. They must have all agreed to not compete; it defies belief that in an open market all of the companies could have evolved to give an equally shite service.
My nomination for the prize though is Initial City Link, who once soaked a bag of electronic goods that were sent to me. They simply bagged up the soggy remains in a large plastic bag and denied all knowledge. They even denied repacking it themselves (“we would never do that”), even though the large green bag had their company’s logo on it.
I know they won’t mind me airing this story in public again, because I have spoken to them extensively about that episode, and it’s clear that they don’t care about customer service or their own reputation.
Please change the title of this post from “Irish Companies” to “All Earth-based Companies”. these guys suck all over the world. Their truck drivers aren’t even FedEx employees. Everything about their operation is ridiculous to the point of self-satire.
Hey I live in Canada, geology is a hobby of mine, and have recently ordered a igneous(rhyolite) stone from Ukraine, and the exporter brought it down to Lagos to ship it to me which is totally fine with me, so anyway the package finally reaches Calgary and Fedex has it sent to customs to find out what it is, even though it has Geological Stone Sample written on it, it has been in customs for the last week so far, and they have asked me over five times, what is inside?how much did you pay? IS it diamonds? Come on man, if it was diamonds would it really be marked stone sample? And I just talked to a representative again(6 times) now they are saying that it will probably be rejected and I will have to pay for the service charges and for the delivery back, Ummm ok what??????? Why am I paying for something that I won’t receive and will never have?? I might as well buy a car, pay for the licensing and have it shipped god knows where for someone else to own, like???? How do they get away with this???

Fedex Ireland should be avoided. I will not go into detail with my experience because there is way too much for me to say. So in brief, I was supposed to have a Christmas present delivered to me from N.Y. . They delivered it to the wrong address. It has taken a month for them to deliver the package to me. I am still waiting for it. And yes, they make up excuses as to why it still hasn’t been delivered. I have been told 3 different stories as to why the package has not been delivered. Fedex Ireland can easily be compared to the show Faulty Towers.
I agree totally, FedEx are Brutal… they wanted me to pick it up as well at Dublin airport. Due to the fact they don’t promise next day delivery outside Dublin, its 2 days.. whats the point then? I might as well have got Tom Hanks to deliver it!
Failure Expected, Delivery EXported!
FedEx Ireland in 2011 are still utterly useless. Everything was quick and efficient from US thru UK until arrival at Dublin. That’s when my package entered a parallel universe. Despite the international priority package being available for clearance, Irish customs don’t work weekends – but they certainly demand payment of all taxes on weekends !. Then I had to repeatedly phone the airport depot to ascertain what was happening. The overall attitude from staff was “It’s not my problem”, “I couldn’t care less”, “Not my job” etc etc. USELESS !. Had to phone customs 3 times – gave them all relevant info – was then lied to regarding clearance. Apparently customs paperwork goes in pidgeon holes that are only collected once a day !!!!. Jesus Christ is this the Dark Ages ????? Paperwork in Pidgeon Holes WTF ???? The concept of priority i.e. timely, efficient, professional is utterly lost on FedEx Ireland staff – they simply just don’t get it. Quite simply the Irish end of operations is a disgrace – irresponsible, lackadaisical, and unprofessional. CEO of FedEx Fred Smith should use some of his Marine Corps training and kick their asses six ways to Sunday !!!!
