Free magicJack and a years unlimited USA calling
The cool guys at magicJack sent me me one over on Thursday to test, its duly been tested and its a totally brilliant device and gives me a USA number through a normal telephone and allows me a full years worth of free calls to any USA number.
I believe this would be an amazing device for any European start-up who call a lot to the USA and who needs to take incoming calls from a USA number
Just plug it in to your USB port, plug in a normal phone and off you go.
I have decided to give this away as a prize in honor of magicJack’s launch next month.
Link to this post and tell why it would help and I will pick a winner over the next 7 days.

I see you offer a Magicjack for someone who needs such. My daughter in Iowa, and her husband in Great Britain could really use it. He is there completing his Ph.D. at Nottingham University (just completed his oral defense), and she is working at ACT in Iowa City while working on her dissertation. How long they will be separated is uncertain. Jajah has helped them, but the time limit on connection is a hindrance. Magicjack looks like the answer to their need for a better means of communication.
Put another way–
Rob and Anne just want to talk,
But land line dollars make them squak.
Now, Jajah offers some relief,
But 30 minutes is too brief
For wife and husband to each tell
Their daily news and thoughts as well–
So if they each had Magicjack
They’d keep their marriage vows on track,
They’d love, they’d honor, sometimes obey,
And always know what each will say
About their separate projects’ pace
And how they’ll help the human race.

sounds like they can afford there own magicjack and besides they sound like very busy people so they probally wouldnt give it much use…give it to someone in like africa or something where someone could put it to GOOD use, but thats just my 2 cents… i hope you give it to someone who actually deserves it. thanks!
(i dont need one, but i might buy one it sounds nice)
P.S Carrol try Rebtel for them. http://www.rebtel.com i use it to call family in Israel.
IN REPLY TO “TSK, TSK”–Thanks for the tip on rebtel. Might work for the kids. But you mistake if you think the kids are wealthy or too busy to talk. They are in debt beyond my imagining (and considering my own finances, I can imagine a lot), and they talk each day until their Jajah minutes run out Nonetheless, I agree that there are in the wide world others even more deserving. Will someone from Africa, living in the poverty you imply, be on the web and apply? I yield willingly, if they do. I would also yield if Pat decides, as you are suggesting he should, to seek out someone more desperately in need instead of someone who can write something that impresses him on this website.
Just looked up rebtel. I see it is cellular. The kids (aged 36 and 40, but kids to me, at 69) have one cell phone, but can’t afford another–hence the Jajah route.
I’ve been using rebtel for a while now and they’ve just introduced 10 Free international calls a month. What’s good in the UK is after that I can use my inclusive network minutes as its a local call http://www.rebtel.com/free1
Congratulations Carrol
Its in the post
I am an asian and i spend a lot of money calling my parents and they do the same. but now with magic jack around i can save on international calling and buy gifts for my kids.
This Magicjack appears to be good. However, I have a question. Can the Sunrocket Phone# be ported to this magicjack? Anybody can answer it?
Yes, the Sunrocket # can be ported, but, the porting part of Magic Jack wont be here till Dec 07. In the mean time I have gone to Teleblend from the SunRocket which, moves my # seamlessly to them, I have the Magic Jack and will be porting both my #s over to them then. Magic Jack is in Beta right now, but it is working and they are ironing the bugs out. there are a few bugs yet, but they are stepping on them as fast as they can.. It is only going to get better, can you imagine, $40 for the first year of unlimited calling in the US and Canada, and then $20 a year after that, It will even handle two #s on it soon, not yet, tho.. Its only 5 months old..My suggestion, get a Magic Jack, they cant sell them over seas, but that cant stop someone here from sending one to some one there, and that would make it all a local call all day long.
Hello there!
Looks like a great tool here!
I live in USA and my family is in Bangladesh. I have to make a lot of calls to them and they do the same
=. Can anyone tell me if my family will be able to use Magic Jack (from Bangladesh) to keep in regular touch with me?
Thanks in advance!
-Borshon
yeah but you guys don’t forget that Africa,Bangladesh or whereever you take it, you better have a good computer turned on with a high speed broadband connection set up over there before you can really wield the “Magic” out of this “Jack”. To me, the softphone aspect of this magic jack functionality ( with caller id and voicemail etc..) is the real deal. The USB adapter is only so you can attach a phone apparatus to it and get the feeling that you are still using the landline connection. But nothing could be farther from the truth. By the way, I am from India the land of legendary intelligence. Later folks.
Hi Guys,
does anyone know if this magic jack comes with the following features ?
(i) Call Forwarding ( to cell phone, work phone etc..)
(ii) Caller Id ( of the mobile or landline incoming call)
thanks
Jay
Thanks a lot Jay!
A good computer with high speed broadband will not be a problem in Bangladesh. Hope I can enjoy the “Magic” out of it! And right now I am not caring much about advanced features like, call forwarding or caller ID etc.
By the way, if you dont mind, are you currently using this Magic Jack in India?
–Borshon
I will be traveling out of the country on September 18th, it will be great to call home very cheap (as Clark Howard said). By the way, how long is the beta period?
cw
Awesome device. I live in the Caribbean and often make purchases from the US. This device is a dream come true! Now I can actually call and place my orders without having to worry about the fifteen minutes I’m kept on hold listening to some elevator music.
Most of my family migrated to the US and we try to keep in contact but telephone charges here are high and most times I can only stay for a few minutes. Now I’ll be able to keep the family and friends closer.
~Vaughn
Is that true? Vonage charge $25/month for unlimited inbound/ousbound calls while MagicJack charges only $1.67/month (or $19.95/Year)?
I am missing something?
Thanks,
Thai

It’s a shame what happened to Bangladesh. I hope the world steps up and helps them.
This MagicJack sounds really magic , and it is possible, because I mannaged to achieve virtually $0 costs per call internationally , but there is still the issue of paying for numbers and unlimited plans at both ends with other devices.
So what MJ offers , its even less than I could do with an Asterisk PBX and couple devices at ends.
I got a MagicJack for my son stationed in Iraq and he calls me whenever he can and it’s like he’s right in the next room!!
All his buddies want to use it or buy one for themselves to call home and talk to their loved ones without the expense of phone cards and the standing in long lines to talk for 5 minutes at a time…
Thank you MagicJack on behalf of myself, my son and all the soldiers lucky enough to know my son!!
This truly is a blessing to hear his voice and to talk unlimited without the bills and hassles.
Worst voice quality. Can not communicate. No phone number to call for tech support.

I ‘m sorry if I bore you with my kids who are adults and have been in school for a life time thinking they will get out of paying their student loans if they continue to goto school their whole life, wont you please help them continue thier greedy american ways to perpetuate their ignorance onto you and so forth? hickory dickory dock …I’ll be cooking on my wok. tick tock tick tock Im full of crap and a silly crock.
My God such lame excuses, Mr Phelan you are a Real Santa, Carrol if she really is 69, I’d give it to her as well, Just Because she can Use a PC. !. As for her Kids ?, well Goats is what they are, !. Your a lazy adult with college loans at those ages,. and if you still need teaching at this age?…..You Were Not paying attention when you really should have been.
As for an African, I know one who is going to build schools and housing for children in Nigera, and in his simple world what he would love to see after the schools and houses are built is ?…. A swimming pool, and to think I know irish folk with them in their gardens in old Eire .
But no a worry as I’ll just tell him before he takes his own clan to disney world, to buy these over states side ..and screw the Custom Boys
I just purchased a magicjack today and I am wondering if when received, I can put a two phone adapter on the magicjack and split off one line to the phone and the other to a Life Alert system. If not, can you put a second magicjack on a second computer which is on the same wireless router as the first and have it work?
I have been using for a month now, no big issues, only a couple of times of not working for outgoing calls, once for incoming…..all issues resolved with a reboot……..voice quality excellent, faxing without problems with HP 5600 set to medium speed as recommended by HP for any VOIP service………just waiting to change to my area code when it becomes available……..and to get a second number when that happens too………highly recommended service…….it will only get better as they go.
I am presently on Vonage and have 2 hone lines and 1 fax line.
Question: Do I purchase three Magic Jacks and pay $19.95 for each line?
Question: With 3 phone lines with Vonage. When I do away with Vonage, can I plug all 3 llines into a hub and then plug hub into 1 USB port in my computer? I have high speed internet.
Hi. Anyone can tell me where in the MJ webside I can buy international minutes…Thank you??
Im getting a error called ‘NSIS Error”
PLease help me out in resolving it
Question:I saty in Canada, and my friend live in China. If I buy the Magic Jack for her, whether She can ues it to call me?
Question2,
I saty in Canada, and my friend live in China. If I buy the Magic Jack for her, then I call her,is a long distand?
Come on your cheap bastards! Just pony up the $40 bucks for the MJ and a years service!
Skip one trip to Olive Garden you fast asses and buy the MJ!
All this begging makes me sick!
I’ve had mine a month and it works great!
For all those with stupid questions read up on the support page! Duh…
This product has worked perfectly for our daughter that has a job that takes her all over the world. It has worked in The Netherlands, Germany, Kenya, Rwanda, and Jordan. So far the only places she could not use it was in Tanzania where she couldn’t get high speed internet and UAE where they block VOIP. This daughter loves to stay connected so believe me when I say this thing has saved our family hundreds of dollars. The really nice thing about this is that only the caller needs to be on the computer. The receiving party can be on a landline or a cell phone. We have given this as a gift to other “travelers” that like to stay connected. Oh yes and the party without the magicjack can call the magicjack number just as if calling any number in the USA.
I will say that sometimes the actual phones that you plug into it do not work with it but it can be used with a headset just as easily. You just have to change the setting on the softphone
I suspect that you could plug in the BASE for your cordless phone and then walk around the house. I know that our cordless phone plugs right into our VoIP network here in our home. I’d recommend that , with a cordless phone, that you get one that has 3 or so hand sets with it.
Usually cheap for 3 or 4 at [Ugg] Walmart or BJ’s or Costco.
Good Luck
Sounds too good to be true, but I ordered one. I was cutting off my landline anyway cause as a single mom who’s unemployed and stressed out financially, I could use some good news for a change. I have a computer which I keep online for the kids school work and my jobhunting but no tv service either and I’m looking into cutting out costs wherever I can before I loose everything along with my sanity. So I hope this is for real and not a hoax and if all goes well, I’m thanking the brilliant inventor in advance. Good luck to all………Gina
Now Magicjack has international calling too, at a very reasonable price (compare to must, is just cents on the dollar …Literally… what a bargain!) WR, HOU, TX
MagicJack is great. I would buy stock if they had it.
You can fax over it, it will put Vonage out of business.
If anyone wants to know more, I am the expert on it.
I want to sell then at a Kiosk at the mall.
This is the best product ever.

I’m down and out in Florida, I lost my last dollar on the casino boat. A friend of mine has a laptop and he’s willing to let me use MagicJack on his laptop to phone home, if I can get a MagicJack and prove to him it works.
MAR MIOLI:
Hahaha… you’re funny. Well that’s a pretty bad situation you got yourself into. Too bad this article was published on March 17, 2007 and the free one year period is about to expire. Anyway, I hope you get it so you can contact home!!
it is $20 dollars a year at all times.
Can anyone tell me if i have DSL, can i use the MJ?
Can you please tell me if i use magicjack from India, what all i have to do. What i got from the website is
1) buy magic jack
2) plug it into computer
3) plug in landline telelphone line into magic jack
now i have few queries
1) when i plug in my telephone line directly, will i be charged by the my telephone company whenever i make a call.
2) where’s the role of having internet connection?
3) is 256kbps broadband connection sufficient or do i need even more high speed connection.
Does anyone know if Magicjack offers a 800 number?
This would be a great next step for a product. Every business would want one.
Magic Jack is Great, I fax from it , have a cordless phone with 3 handsets on it and it works great. I also want to buy stock in Magic Jack. I am the Director of the Professional Wireless Retailers Association and have been telling our 2000 members about Magic Jack and plan for them to offer Magic Jack from there stores nationwide.Any Questions Please contact me

Live in Canada, does it work between from one location with MJ to a non mJ line in Canada? The infomercial says that you can call Canada from the US.
Who do i talk to to have distribution rights in Canada?
bb
MJ sounds to good to be true but obviously some folks have had great success with the device-or they are shills!
I have inquired at Best Buy and Fry’s. They do not sell the MagicJack. Has anyone purchased or even seen one in a well-known business?
My concern with ordering online is I am expected to put my credit card and shipping information into an online form that goes to a company with no name, no address, no telephone number, and no email address! The MJ website is about as professional as a Nigerian phishing email and has many links that do not work. Excuse me if I am skeptical.
presently, I do not have the service. but will. I am interested in selling your product. As an independent sales rep of some sort. Is that possible to do?
I recently talk to about 10 people and without any reservations each one was interested. One person stated that she sends about $150.00 per month calling family and friends in South America.
Hi, I do not have the service, yet. But I am very interested in becoming a sales rep. Is that possible?
I talk to about 10 people and everyone of them is highly interested in the service and wants it.
What has to happen to become a sales rep. I live in New Jersey.
thanks,
Joe C
I bought my first MJ about 8 months ago. I brought it to moscow russia for my girlfriend. I make calls back to the USA without problems. While in russia I ordered another MJ and it was there waiting for me when I arrived. We now talk for free. What a big savings. Sometimes there is a problem with the sound. But, I can live with that.
Hey, are you *sure* it is a FIXED $20 a Year??
I don’t think so. . why then, would they say, “and the SECOND year for $20?”, what about the 3rd, or 4th, etc? …c’mon people, its a BAIT.. (where’s the ‘fine print’?), TERMS of SERVICE, ETC? Honestly, PLEASE people, DO YOUR DUE DILEGENCE(ie;homework)..
If you got it for 2 years, for 40$, (plus the cost), maybe an OK deal, but thats a long time to ‘hope’ something works right, and that YOU have connectivity. really.
tech/times change FAAST. NEWAYS, if anyone needs, here is the “CONTACT” info for YMAX Corp. In case anyone needs to . . “CONTACT” them? why not THEY give any “FREE” numbers for SUPPORT (they all need it).. ok, ok, here it is:

just do a DOMAINNAME SEARCH (via godaddy.com or where-ever), see if they change the info.), if they ‘scam’ you, try contacting your local Attorney General, . . BBB is alright, but they dont have the force to do much. :/

Cheers, and Good Luck, …. “When it sounds “to good to be true”, it PROBABLY is.. (Even if his WIFE says it’s NOT on T.V.) AT worst you get ONE Year, best 2 Years, I will check back in 3, and see ‘just how good a deal this REALLY is)..
Is it POSSIBLE, YOU BET!, I can do this without any ‘gadgets’, but the PROFIT LINE is what ANY “Company” is out for… and… if THEY make to good, don’t you think the US Government will make ‘restrictions’, on VoIP? (Voice over Internet Protocol/Telephony), if you GIVE it away, it will only get “Taxed” by the Govn’t… maybe, just maybe, you can get it for 1-2 years,. . . but will see in 3.

People, please read between the lines. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. 1. I ordered the MJ in mid-Feb, and it took all of 6 days to send it from Box 6846, W. Palm Beach, FL 33405 (remember people RBTL ((Yes, this is a Duck 1st-the acrostic and the double parentheses )) ) I have been waiting since Feb for the 1st bill on credit card and no authorization yet-ol’ Dan is true to his word (30 day trial). 2. Try 60 to 90 seconds to activate, and be sure you have internet capability. If you don’t, go to a place that does-e.g. (not i.e. ((id est or that is)) ) Burger King, McDonalds, public library, hotel-motel etc. that has either a “free-use” computer, or bring your: A. MagicJack. B. Corded phone (Fred’s has one for $5). C. Your wi-fi carded laptop. Now, use your MagicJack to call whomever you need to. (In the library, be sure you speak quietly, or go to a “listening room” popular with 78RPM Bakelite or 33RPM vinyl discs again e.g. “Penny Serenade” with Cary Grant and Irene Dunn, I believe. ((At home, use your cordless speakerphone for group conversations)) ) And folks, be kind and patronize those places that afford you this luxury. Enough said there. 3. The recent (as of 12 March 08) phone numbers for those reticent to give their credit card numbers over the “net” (are you ready?): TV advertisement (on Bloomberg channel)-800-430-5188. Tech support given order numbers (Yes, I pulled teeth to get these): 800-214-3938/9512 (For you folks unaware “/” means “or” if the other suffix is busy.) These numbers should abate your fear of your personal info discovered by those without a “need to know”. The polite voice prompt will guide you. If you feel this company is going somewhere, and are confident, you can order another year of service. (Don’t forget the US had 16% inflation in ’07-virtual, so think long and hard about the future-hint, hint! ((Remember RBTL)) ) 4. Service is outstanding, however, when conversing with a cell-phone user, be sure the cell phone is not in a tunnel, on a bridge, or in a “dead” area. Voip to voip, or landline (corded or cordless) is the ideal. 5. The tech service people are available and you use instant messaging to state your problems. They are outstanding and most efficient, although they carry on, I believe, multiple “conversations”. Be patient with them. Maybe, in time, they’ll have money enough to sponsor live telephone tech service. 6. My hat’s off to ol’ Dan. You doubters should be thankful we have this technology. “You cannot free the slave who loves his chains.” (Thanx Gman or L8z (Liz or Luz?) for complete address and local phone.)
I ordered this merchandise and got a confirmation number. You haven’t emailed me about the status of my order. Please get back to me or I will cancel my order.

Greetings everybody,
I was burned by SunRocket, (Pardon the pun), but I still have faith in what the emerging field of VOIP offers. I live in the United States, in the State of Minnesota, and I have DSL and local phone service through the same communications company, Qwest. When I signed up with SunRocket, I never considered the fact that when the phone service is disconnected, that the DSL is also disconnected. So with no phone service and no internet, that means no SunRocket. For a few weeks, until we got re-situated back with Qwest, I had to use our cell phone for much more than we normally do, along with pay phones and our relatives phones. For cable and satellite customers, using an Internet Phone Service, or VOIP, isn’t any problem because the phone number isn’t tied in with it like it is with DSL. SunRocket did a terrible job of not explaining to DSL subscribers about “naked”, “stand alone”, or “dry loop” DSL options, which would have prevented that nightmare that I was suffering through for several weeks. Quite frankly, I can see why SunRocket went belly-up. Thank you very much for spending some of your time in reading this message. Good bye.
I HAVE TO SAY I LOVE IT SO FAR.
BUT IT DONT GIVE ME MY LOCAL AREA CODES FOR MY AREA IT HAS JUST A SMALL AMOUNT OF AREAS THAT IT WILL GIVE YOU,
SO I HAVE TO USE AN AREA CODE FOR OUT OF MY AREA. BUT SO FAR ITS OKAY.
i too am concerned about not being able to transfer my present vonage number to majicjack,,,but if it can be done,,,ill go with a wireless card and this service in a heartbeat,,,but it can be only a secondary phone until then,,,,hurry up with new area codes
Wow! thank God for MagicJack I live in Haiti will it work here? if so how one become a sales rep or affiliate?
Our family is separated one side in the States & the other in Haiti.
Please answer soon so many freinds & co-workers are in the same position this will help much. Keep up the good work.
I just placed my order. I now have concerns especially that you never talk to a real person. Phone numbers are not readily available for you to talk to a real person. And they want you to lock in a 2nd year at 19.95 only after they get your credit card number. That’s not the way to secure new business. Has anyone had this service over 2 years? What is the actual rate? Why all the secrets?
99% of the questions and comments posted here are covered by the info on their web site. Those who are so critical don’t really seem to know what they are talking about. Some are worring about what will happen 3 years from now.
People, read the info already given by the site. If your MJ worked for only 1 month you would still come out ahead of what is being offered by most other providers.
Most who are making negitive comments don’t even have the system.
Don’t post unless you know what you are talking about or before knowing anything about this item.
I have nothing to gain by endorsing this product but it works as advertised.
99% posting here are asking questions that are already answered on the MJ site. It seems that the negative comments are coming from those who either have no exposure to the MJ or really don’t know what you are talking about. I see comments asking what will happen 3 years from now. Who cares. If the product works for only 1 month you are making out better than you you would with most providers. I have one and have had no problems. It works exactly as advertised. If you want to know the real answers invest the $40 dollars and find out for youself.
Bye the way I am an electronics engineer and have no vested interest in this device. But I can say it is well built, not a scam and everyone it’s not the end of the world if you were to loose $40. Don’t be so paranoid. It works…
I live in ALABAMA and you do not have any area codes for that state. I had to go to TENN ( 615) for an area code. Will AL being getting its (205, 256, 334,) area codes?
Dan the man with the PLAN, where
is the answers in the LAND!
I have just got my magicjack on Tues thgis week and I liked it til today, can not here anything and it is ring at the phone I call, plus no live person to help with isues.
