Fring Brings Skype to iPhone

This is a real serious development for the Fring team lead by my buddy Boaz Zimmerman,an email from Gil Regev yesterday asking me to test had to be ignored for 24hrs due to travel, I posted today that the iPhone was going under the hammer for a Samsung Omnia i900 but this has earned it a reprieve.

Download and set up was incredibly easy, Fring are masters of this and a lot of others including Nimbuzz and Truphone could learn a lot from this, users can add Skype, including Skype out, MSN messenger, ICQ, their own SIP credentials, Google Talk, Twitter,Yahoo IM and AIM chat to their Fring profile.

I done a series of tests and they all passed with flying colours, first up was Skype and a quick call to Robin Blanford went perfect with 7/10 quality, This was a Skype call over wifi on the iPhone, really quite amazing

Next up was Twitter, again this passed musto as you can see from this image below with Phil Campbell and Christine Lu twittering to their hearts content.

Next up was a Skype IM to Isy and again perfect followed by (and this is the one that blew me away, a perfect Skype out call on the iPhone, I have to say huge congrats to all the guys at Fring, I must also eat my words a little, I was of the opinion that Apple would penalize all companies that jumped the gun and went with releases on only jailbroken phones.
I am delighted to be proved wrong on this.

    At last Fring for iPhone.
    Really looking forward to using this, Twitter there too.
    I guess this will be ‘number 1 with a bullet’ in iTunes Store in no time.

    I have Skypeout and whenever I try to make a call, it tries then immediately reports that the call was cancelled!

    I have skypeout also immediately says call cancelled when I try a test call on my iphone.
