Getting well soon

So its a massive health kick here, first to go is

ashtray

Over the last few months I have begun to get pretty tired late in the day, I have tried every kind of vitamin and all to no avail, nothing seem to work. I have also seen Om get sick and numerous friends getting more and more stressed.
I hit 43 in a couple of weeks and its time to take stock.
3 years ago I was in the Gym 6 times per week and weighed 30 lbs less than I weigh today and was eight months without a cigarette.

Now its 30 a day, snacks, biscuits and grazing.
So today was the day after a few broken promises to myself
So 7am to the gym for a work out with my friend Mr Ireland Tony Martin, patches for the vicious weed and a 5 mile evening walk.
Diet has been completed reviewed and a dietician friend has got me back on the straight and narrow
Will it work, I certainly hope so
Wish me luck :-)

Every success Pat. Go for it. Make it so! ;-)

It will take only a few days for your body to snap back to reality and you’ll start to notice an improvement.

Good luck man! It’s a tough fight, but sounds like you have some good support to help you out!

Ah now I’m going to have to get up off my fat ass and get healthy.

Well done on the ciggies, they are total bastards.

Best of luck sir! I managed to kick it about 4 or 5 years ago, and never felt better!

Good on ya Pat. I started to learn to swim again recently, which has been truamatic. And also started back smoking -with the usual packful of rationalisations. Hoping to drift towards keeping one up. While dropping the other. It certainly helps to hear of others making the positive changes.

Jaysus don’t do one thing at a time anyway :-) Best of luck with it all.

Pat, I’ve never smoked (thank God!), so can only imagine how rough it will be to quit. My shrink, an addiction specialist and former chainsmoker, says that you should just plan to feel like crap for at least a year after quitting. So if you do, at least know that it’s normal. :)

I have lost a huge amount of weight over the last four years, and the whole “one day at a time” maxim definitely holds here. If you fall off the wagon, just get back on. It’s staying down that sets you back, not the initial fall. But then you know this. :)

I have definitely taken inspiration from your efforts, and am going to increase the amount of running I do. It’ll be great if, the next time I see you, we’re both looking even better than the last time! We’ll have to go for a long walk in the California sunshine together sometime!

I did the same myself last year Pat, but it was Tony’s father who straightened me out :) I’m in there during the lunch hour usually, although I have said I’d try the morning sessions so I might see you in there.

I have been there 6 months ago. I feel much better than ever, It’s hard, sometimes almost impossible but I wil do my best efforts to stay on the ‘clean’ side.

My kids love me more without cigarettes!

I wish you good luck and most important : BE STRONG!

Best of luck, mate. We don’t need anymore bright stars in our industry burning out.

    hey Pat,

Wish you all the best! What works for me for going to the gym is to make sure that it is as high priority as any meeting… You have to schedule it in and make yourself feel really guilty if you ever miss it!

Hi Pat. I gave them up last week myself. Still going strong. Need to sort out the diet next and get playing footy and golf a bit more.

    You’re not alone - that’s for sure!
