the US is due for a good solid price war in mobile. i expect sprint to be the next to offer an unlimited everything for under $100. this may be the year when all the US carriers move to an unlimited model. i see it landing at around $45 for unlimited voice from the biggest carriers and features added onto that with under $100 every possible option including tethering 3G data. you already have metro pcs or crickit in every major city and now helio nationwide. it is simple; americans like all inclusive packages and hate to count minutes. unlike in europe the carriers do not have to worry about expensive termination charges to other networks. roaming will remain outrageous for a while longer; americans simply do not travel enough and unlike domestic voice there is not the issue of growing competition from companies like helio, metro, and crickit.

there may be some takeover action as part of the process.
