Hjalmar’s Rebtel breaking all records

Just in Heathrow on the way back to Cork after a busy day in London.
I spent the afternoon at Balderton Capital which was turned into Rebtel’s London HQ for my visit.
Hjalmar

Rebtel CEO Hjalmar Windbladh was there to welcome me and after the business was out of the way Hjalmar opened his books and gave me a sneak peek of where they are at, whilst I can’t disclose the figures I can say they are astounding. They traffic is seriously healthy and coming from places I would never have imagined. I have to congratulate him and his team on doing a seriously good job on this. He also mentioned a top secret event in September taking place in Europe around their Facebook application.
Actually we were discussing the Symbian sale to Nokia and it came out that Hjalmar is one of the founding fathers of the mobile web, I think he is a bit embarrassed to blow his own trumpet on this but I have no problem with anything like that.

A brief history is here.
He filed the Patent (now owned by Microsoft)in 1995 that ended up being substantial for the creation of WAP-push and MMS when launching Sendit the first company pioneering Mobile Internet services sold via GSM operators world wide. (Mobile email and mobile Internet access via GSM operators)
Took Sendit public in Stockholm 1997 and it was picked up by Microsoft and turned in to Microsoft Mobile Business Unit back in 1999. I actually think it was the first Public company MS bought in Europe
