It’s Day 1

Lately I have found myself appalled by the number of cigarettes I smoke even if they are mostly 30% of a cigarette. My health is beginning to suffer a little and I have developed a raspy cough which I cant seem to shake off.
I decided two weeks ago to quit today, so the day is here and the patches are on
Wish me luck.

    Best of luck with that, it’s one of the best things you can ever do for yourself and your family! I alwaya remember Lou Reed saying that he has quit smoking, alcohol and heroin in his lifetime and of all three the fags were the hardest to kick! Watching some of his friends suffer and die of cancer probably helped I am sure. Good luck!

    Pat..best of luck. Gave them up 14 weeks ago….still miss them but best thing I ever did. You won’t miss the inconvenience of smoking;

    1. standing in a doorway in the rain sucking on a butt
    2. waiting in airport till last minute to go thru security
    3. organising your flight via “smoking” airports!!

    Not sure if that helps or hinders!!

    Best of luck

    Good on ya Pat. I smoked heavily for 10 years and then gave up cold turkey when Catherine announced she was pregnant with our first kid. I never looked back and genuinely don’t miss them. You won’t regret it for a second.

    Go for it Pat and good luck! Just don’t go around and eat too much :)

    Good luck Pat. I used to smoke quite heavily but I gave up in 2000. I reckon I’ve saved around €15,000 by doing so. Just wish I knew where all that money was…

    Best of luck with that Pat. Pilar gave up in ’99 using the Nicorette Inhalators. She found them fantastic. You maintain the whole hand-to-mouth thing and you get the familiar ‘catch’ in the throat when you inhale.

    Best of luck, Pat. I know some who have succeeded in quitting, others (like my dad) who are still trying. Best to quit now before your health really goes down the toilet.

    Good luck with that.
    I’ve found that the best way to quit was to chainsmoke a carton of eastern-European knock-off Marloboros until you’re sick.
    Did that in 2004 and haven’t looked back since…

    Good luck. It’s hard but is also very worth it.
