Jaxtr-the world gone mad

So this mornings news
Jaxtr Finally Enables Out-of-Network Calling, Raises $10 Million
Jaxtr Gets $10 Million, Offers Out of Network Calls
Jaxtr Gets $10 Million, Offers Out of Network Calls

Probably the best comment I have seen is below
jaxtr

Om also mentions that this is phone card play, well that’s one area where I have tons of experience and I can guarantee you that this is no more a phone card play than MAXroam is.
The people who use phone cards don’t have credit cards, they generally don’t have web access and they certainly are not looking at Jaxtr but definitely are IDT customers.
Were it not for the involvement of a LinkedIn founder Jaxtr would have already been consigned to the scrap heap,
Stacy from Jaxtr’s comments ( We have two revenue streams which allow us to offer super cheap rates as well as free in-network calling. First, our web site drives significant traffic due to the engagement features – cafe jaxtr and individual jaxtr contact pages) on the Techcrunch post today show a naivety which is as insulting as asking us to believe that Jaxtr has 10 million customers.

Jaxtr has been raised to the sky as if it was the VoIP equivalent to the second coming of christ and one can’t help to wonder if there is some detail to Jaxtr that has been overlooked. What is so spectacular? All of a sudden Jaxtr is the newest and biggest threat to Skype (in addition to the conventional telco’s).

The only thing in todays news about Jaxtr that created a lot of exclamation and question marks was the claim of them having 10 million users.

Also, two revenue streams where one is significant traffic through yet another social network? I’d like to here the reasoning behind that.

Best of luck to them but I would rather see them getting a lot of publicity for something truly innovative and different.

    Good night

    Alex
