O2 Ireland still pushing iPhone 1.0
I am really hoping that O2 Ireland don’t mess this one up.
We should expect to see the 8GB iPhone at €127 in one months time if uncle Steve was correct in what he said “The maximum price anywhere is $199″
So I wake up this morning thinking I will pre-register, flick on twitter and see messages saying O2 now taking pre-registrations for iPhone. woo-hoo
Yep, there they are on the UK site, register your interest, hell there are even free ones.

Right, decision made, its buy/reserve mode, off to O2.ie

In fairness, what’s the deal here?
Surely its not that difficult guys, I hope we are not going to get any shoddy deals here again.
Hi Pat,
I was watching the video of the keynote address this morning even though I listened to the live one yesterday. One thing I caught on the video, which I missed yesterday was that Steve says “In almost every one of these countries, the maximum price will be $199″. I fear Ireland doesn’t fall into this category by the use of the word “almost”.
It’s at 1:40:30 when watching:

o2 Ireland are a joke – the plans and offers are crap compared to the UK. I hope I’ll be able to get one and put it on Vodafone.
I would actually buy myself out of my vodafone contract if O2 gave the equivalent deals their UK counterparts are giving.
Check out this report on UK O2 pricing for the 3G iPhone

Actually, I probably would do that myself. I’m hooked on the amount of free calls I get with Vodafone but if the 3000 minute one was here, I would go to o2 for the iphone.
O2.ie have updated their website this morning with a banner proclaiming “Say hello to the new iPhone.. Coming July 2008″ but no further details (that I can see).
What chance a Speakeasy (i.e. Pay & Go) iPhone 3G?
O2 UK are offering some interesting iPhone deals. Pay as you Go, and free upgrades for existing iPhone users. What are the odds that O2 Ireland will do similar here? Slim I fear.
By the way, will 3G be available to phones on O2 here? They have not really pushed the service for anything other than mobile broadband for computers and had pretty much abandoned the hand set market. I suppose the simple question is:
If I get a 3G iPhone from O2 Ireland will I get 3G speeds, data tarifs and services?
