O2 release the N95 8GB in Ireland
At last the news that a lot of O2 customers have been waiting for.
The N95 8GB is finally available.

Pricing (below) is pretty ok although as far as I am aware Vodafone made a huge reduction to the pricing for the same phone this week, cant seem to confirm that yet though.
O2 customers will love this handset with a number of secondary products downloadable for the it. They should also have real mobile broadband unlike those of us stuck with the piece of crap that is Vodafone Live.
Prices range from €289 (including vat) for Advantage upgrade to €339 for the Silver upgrades. On a new connection to o2 again it varies from €269 to €339 depending on tariff.

I spotted ad for N95-8GB in Vodafone shop last week “from €169″. I assume that’s on the max tarriff.
What’s the story on O2 data? Do they have proper open 5GB or 10GB data plans on N95-8GB? i.e. not WAP.
Oh and it’s still an incredible device even if I’m suffering from the dreaded slider wobble.
Hi pat,
Just to confrim the N95 8GB was reduced in march by Vodafone to a fantastic €169, probably to compete with the o2’s iphone. In April it has been increased again to €259 on a new connection and upgrade. Paul
pat just checked the Vodafone website and they still have it up as €169, unless they are doing an Aer Lingus on it i stand corrected. Paul
Interesting. I asked O2 about this last month. Quote from an email from O2 on March 8th. “We have no plans in the foreseeable to release the 8gb n95″
@Paul - Thanks again to your guys in Choice for fixing screen on my old N70. Extended Nokia warranty was a real blessing and ye fixed it in no time at all.
Picked mine up in the post on Tuesday morning (ordered on Saturday last from O2 website).
Conversations on Saturday went like this, when asked about availabilty of the phone in stores last Saturday. Nay a hint of an N95 8GB to be seen or heard of in Kilkenny, Carlow or Waterford until midweek or today. O2 website was bang on.
Cost me 349 for the upgrade (Gold upgrade), no change needed to my insurance to cover the N95.
Available data plans are naff… 250mb, 1gb… They did tell me on the phone that I could use the sim out of an O2 broadband modem and work away on that (10gb fair usage cap at 30 a month after 3 months) but “if anyone rings you acidentally” I could be in bother.
After testing the basics of it for the week, I’m delighted. Plus the video perfomed quite well under low light at a gig last night.
I had the (086) blackberry pearl for awhile but never got used to it because I’d always used the Nokia OS.
I’m not a techie person.
I bought the 8Gb N95 from Carphone Warehouse for approx €210 a couple of weeks ago on a Vodafone contract. Apart from the ‘phone’ + PIM features
I just need to know if I have email. Browsing is a bonus. Vodafone have disabled the inbuilt email program and installed their own subscription-based version. Not good.
Lonelycatgames dot com have an email program that costs approx €30 and is ok.
It’s a good functional phone that syncs with outlook, does email, and can do the internet. Battery life is >1day (hello Pearl!!)…
So far, so good…
Ken, so O2 is recommending we use VOIP on a data SIM in preference to them providing proper data plans on voice SIMs?
Anyone done any testing on using data SIM for voice over 3G or 3.5G?
@Conor Could be looked on in that way. Maybe the introduction of their new flat-rate plan is a sign of good changes to come. As it stands I’ve deleted any WAP / GPRS profiles off the handset, relying strictly on wifi for access…
