Peek launch The Pronto, save €1000 on mobile email.

Peekonomics

I really believe Peek’s launch of The Pronto yesterday will become known as a pager moment for the 21st century.
Its a totally simple and low cost way of receiving email and text on the move.
They have also now added support for Microsoft Exchange which bring them into the business sphere, they savings here are quite substantial for business and I think this is quite a wake-up call for the carriers.
New Features all below
Push — which means real time email delivery
Microsoft Exchange support — you can use it for business accounts
Texting — to cell phones, and yes they can reply to you
PDF and Word doc support
Search
Larger font set
Way faster software speed throughout the app, and
Lots of nifty email apps that do things like get weather, news, maps, or just any random questions.
It’s only $79,no contract, and the service is only $16.67 per month when you get the quarterly plan.
Peek Pronto really saves you money over smartphones. It’s Peekonomics 101.
And it’s so easy to use, it’s going to save you tons of time.

Does it have a twitter client? I think that twitter is the must have add on for it. Otherwise it looks like a cool product.

I’ve seen this on a few websites (engadget, gizmodo) and it certainly looks like a great device. Certainly extremely popular in the US.

I was wondering which, if any, service provider would introduce this in Ireland and what the charging scheme would be. In the US there are some great options – life long unlimited access for an upfront fee. However given the fact that O2 gave a misery offering for the iPhone when it was released here, no where near as good as what’s available in the UK or the US I wonder would they do the same here. Would we see a cap on usage and a high monthly fee?

It looks like a great product and one I would be interested in, not willing to take the leap into Blackberry life, but I don’t see any Irish provider getting this right.

Lack of faith in the market I fear.

    Chris
