Tesla Motors get ready for Europe

Tesla Motors have begun the push into Europe with its electric powered Roadster. The car which was recently tested by Robert Scoble driven by Tesla founder Elon Musk and hotly pursued by everyone’s favourite yellow Corvette driver Jason Calacanis

On a brief Twitter chat today Tesla Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Service Darryl Siry gave me some details on the new European push

1. Lots of enquiries from Norway and Denmark where future Tesla owner will pay no registration tax and are subject to favourable taxes.

2. With the weakness of the USD the Tesla roadster should come in at sub €100,000

3. The UK is the source of their largest inquiries, I presume especially London where the congestion charge is £10 per day

4. The car is now officially open for sale in Europe and they are taking deposits right now.

5. Darryl has been marketing the car using Web 2.0 strategies including Twitter which I think is a first for any auto manufacturer.

6. He has promised me the first test drive in Europe (I just made that one up :-) )

7. Tesla’s first planned event in Europe will be at the Top Marques Monaco from April 24-27.
