Want to win a Samsung M1 with vodafone 360 onboard?

Vodafone-360-Samsung-H1_1
A couple of months ago Vodafone invited me to the launch of the Vodafone 360 which was hosted by Dito Von Teese. To be honest it wouldn’t have taken Dito to drag me along as Vodafone 360 was created by my buddy Tommy Ahlers.
Anyways much as I love it, it was a gift thus must be given away here.
Its locked to Vodafone networks but should work in any European Vodafone network and is a super smart device.
How do you win it?
Its simple, just leave a comment, tell me what you would like to see more of on this blog
More Telecoms. More personal, more business
I will give the phone away on Friday, this is a serious phone so put you thinking hats on folks

Winner is James Gallagher (congrats)

    Hi Pat,

I would love to see more posts about business and how you are ever expanding your business with so much competition and with the current economic climate.

I like the mix of telecoms, personal and business. In particular the geeky stuff like turning your car into a WiFi hotspot.

More Dita Von Teese please. Some tech stuff would be OK too.

Hi Pat, can you discuss more about how social networks and business should play a key role in how our young people will be doing business in a few short years. The way I see it is this, 95% of all young people today already have the skills and tools to fully utilise these social networks, the same unfortunatly cannot be said for the majority of business. ‘Twitteroil’ is there to be discovered.

    Hi Pat,
I think I’d like to see more of your own story in setting up Maxroam – I’m sure there was a few moments where you thought the whole thing was getting off the rails or where you thought things were only a few minutes or a single phone call (or whatever) away from collapse. There’s moments like that to every story and i’m sure yours are worth sharing. :)

    Hey Pat,
I’d like to see more of the personal side of the blog – I enjoy the reviews of gadgets that you might have access to before Joe Soap. I’d really like to see more detail and attention given to the Irish perspective on such devices – for example the iPad – what specific benefits do you see as an Irishman? Irish applications we should know about? etc.

Following on from that and incorporating the business side of things, it’d be really cool to link the gadgets to how you might see them working in SMEs or even Irish education?

It’s nice to get a personal touch here – I just feel that some other Irish gadget websites, whilst interesting, are too middle-of-the-road and impersonal – giving facts, rarely opinions. Keep telling it how it is and calling a spade a spade!

    Thanks!
    P

Enjoy the blog and the mix of content. Like some of the other commentators, I’d like any insight to how an Irish company gets off the ground, succeeds and grows. What / who was of particular help to you.

    Continued success

    Hi Pat,

I enjoy reading the blog, would definitely like to see more business related posts.
It’s great to see entrepreneurship in action, and someone
with successful businesses who’s willing to:

    blog
    tweet
    facebook
    flickr
    youtube
    stumbleupon
    linkedin
    jaiku
    foursquare
    friendfeed

and I think I recall you mention you’ve even tried your hand at chatroulette ;-)

    Cheers,
    Paul.

    Pat,
Would love to hear more insights about telecoms (both the business side and the gadgets). Telecoms companies are generally too large, greedy and/or underhanded to be in any way transparent or genuine.

    Hi Pat,

I’d like to see a few tips up here as to what we all need to do to get invites to Vodafone launches, free Samsung phone & access to iPads to test/review ;)

    keep up the great work…..

Keep it comms and related business please Pat, there’s nothing worse than a feed polluted with personal commentaries; with the sole exception of commentary on social networking.

Agree with one of the other comments about enjoying the mix of topics. Like the ‘gadget’ related posts.

    Hi Pat,
Would love to see more “personess” (personal \ business) type content.

For example, how you manage to successfully operate a business in a highly competitive market alongside maintaining a healthy work-life balance!

What you consider to be good business sense for maintaining your business profile and advice you would give to those considering taking the leap!

An “Entrepreneurs” section so to speak.

Oh, on a side note keep up the F1 updates on Qualifying and Race days – I’d be lost without them on twitter when the kids take over the TV for their own animated pleasure ;-)

    Niall.

More tech and more Maxroam but not at the expense of personal. Your tech coverage is great but it’s the personal stuff that gives context to how and what you write. As opposed to just running off tech specs/press releases like a lot of so-called tech journalists in Ireland do, your reviews and thoughts on tech leave us with a proper sense of what it can do for us.

I’d love to hear more about Maxroam, the rare occasions when I get to talk to you I’m left inspired and amazed.

  24. Posted by James Foley 12th April, 2010 at 10:35 pm

    Hi Pat,

I’d like to see your opinions on how difficult/easy it is for a company setting up and operating out of ireland. What thing’s have got in this country that make you glad to be here, and what things want to make you tear your hair out with frustration….and how to work around them :)

  25. Posted by Branedy 12th April, 2010 at 10:39 pm

I like to see more personal info, I really like to hear HOW you use your tech. I suspect that I view their use differently and would like to see how you abuse your toys.

  26. Posted by barneymc 12th April, 2010 at 10:58 pm

    Pat,
The current blend of personal+tech+business in a mobile context is a winner and never gets boring. really more of the same please.
If you had to add some more content, maybe some strategies/encouragement for those locked in (work)cell hell and how to live the dream à la Pat. I believe there are silos of undiscovered talent out there – whether it’s in design, development, business or just getting a bunch of geeks to run in a certain direction. Leadership is oft quoted missing on this soggy isle in other contexts but something that would really rattle our cages in the tech world. Many people have that inner ability but the catalyst is just around the corner. Maybe some more topics on how to walk around that corner.

I always like the competitions in spite of a terrible track record here. What I like and always find interesting are your views on start-ups or internet fads. Always to the point and succint.

I’ve used these phones and seen some other versions of these phones, I was not impresses with them at all. The design and software running on them arent great, and the icons are just plain and ugly, I’ve also used 360 and really can’t see what ‘s good about it. Maybe I’m just missing something about 360…

  30. Posted by Michael 13th April, 2010 at 12:40 am

I’d like to hear you write about how you set MaxRoam up

  31. Posted by Dave 13th April, 2010 at 1:09 am

Would be great to have some more products with reviews of how they help with business, productivity etc.

I think not as many people want the next hot gadget just because it’s new nowadays. It’s more interesting to actually see how it can help us do things better and faster.

    Hi Pat,

I’d like to see more posts about the man behind the brand. A trained butcher, chef and now a telecomms guru, it’s definitely an interesting transition.

More posts about other companies, for example the Zynga post. I was inspired to write a post about it but alas my blog is borked at the moment.

    Hi Pat,

Your “latest gadgets” info is great… keep it coming… any chance of you doing an autobiograpy ?…. it would make a great read….fascinating story with good humour thrown in I’m sure.

  39. Posted by Shane McC 13th April, 2010 at 11:06 am

My personal interest would be to get a glimse of your mind, how and why you made the business decisions you have made.
You seem to know your industry very very well and can persistently and successfully leap ahead of the competition and launch products while others only fathom the idea.
You seem to be one step ahead of the game.

I would like to read more about Pat Phelan the business man. What makes you tick Pat?

  40. Posted by Niall Fagan 13th April, 2010 at 12:29 pm

Hey Pat, I would like to see more videos on your blog – you get lots of gadgets and it would be nice to see them from the moment you take them from their box to setting them up and giving your first impressions…

    thanks :0)

More feedback from conferences and shows that you are attending, where we do not have the opportunity to visit for whatever reason.

  44. Posted by Michael O'Brien 13th April, 2010 at 2:51 pm

    Pat,

You currently cover mobiles, cell phone, gadgets, MVNOs, roaming, SIMs, QIK, tech events and travel. And you cover it well.
But (borrowing from some of the above):

    1. Feedback from conferences you attend and help us to read between the lines of the slideware.
    2. Most definitely – a guide to your route to getting the business off the ground. Much of it (guides, advice, etc) is available online but providing your very own perspective would be more than useful.

  45. Posted by Patrick 13th April, 2010 at 10:26 pm

    Hi Pat,

Love the blog. I`d like to see more posts on ways to save money (in these recessionary times) online.

  46. Posted by Tony Cochrane 13th April, 2010 at 10:31 pm

You should do an analysis of the increased traffic prompted by the prospect of possibly winning something, graph the quality of the answers versus the authors desire not to appear too obvious-

“I come here all the time” etc etc.

  47. Posted by Jack Healy 13th April, 2010 at 11:17 pm

    Another great giveaway, Pat!

I’d love to see (even) more highlighting of the Cork tech community. There are a lot of good things going on down here and you probably are more aware of happenings than most.

    Thanks,

Hi Pat, the only thing I would ask for is more regular updates. Your content is perfect, that’s the reason we all come here, so keep doing the same.

Well actually now that I think of it, I would like to hear more about the mobile apps you are testing or using. But that’s just a little request.

I’d like to see more frequent updates as well as more information about how you’re subverting the main telecoms providers and shaking them up. They certainly need a slightly maverick Irish guy to shake them up.
