To celebrate our nice new Sony Ericsson X8 Xperia adverts on MAXROAM and on our other sites the guys at Sony Ericsson have given me one of their beautiful Xperia X8 handsets to give away
I have been using this most of this week and I think its one of the nicest Android installs that I have used.
Anyways, How do you get one?
I think the format for the last giveaway was excellent and the winner was most deserving.
So “Why should you have it” ?
This is a neverlocked device and can be used with any carrier worldwide, so its open to all
Please vote for MAXROAM in The Techcrunch Europa’s awards if you have a moment

The winner is Pat O Mahony, Pat is producing some great work at the moment and needs an updated phone, I think this prize will pay us all back in content

Cos I’m worth it, baby. Maybe.
It’d need to be some piece of kit to win me over from my iPhone. Nokia have slipped hugely in recent years IMO but I’d love to be proven wrong.
I should have this phone because I’m a student and a technophile and those two don’t mix
The only way I can satisfy my cravings is by winning this competition
SE by far the best camera technology I’ve seen… pity no flash.. timescape is great… like skyfire browser too.
I spent all summer working to save for college and a new phone, and finally splashed out on a Galaxy S, only to drop it on the ground and break the screen weeks later. Now I’m back in college I can’t afford to get it fixed.
The xperia x8 would really make me feel better.
Basically my reason to get it, would be that my 3Gs is basically dead and I think it’s time for a change. Viva Sony Ericsson
The answer to the test of skill, under the Gaming Acts, is “Norway”, and my special talent is free legal advice disguised as blog comments. Do I win?
I was always a fan of Sony Ericsson phones from a decade ago( owns- SE T230) and their walkman phones (owns-W580i) were awesome. But later they got ran over by the likes iphone and htc androids.
Right now am a smartphone user fed up with his symbian S60 V5 and wants to try Android and this xperia X8 would give me a chance to go Android and as well get back to Sony Ericsson.
Don’t feel very deserving of this in comparison with your previous winner. Just on the lookout for a new phone! Will more than likely go Android.
I meant SE, not Nokia. Same statement applies though.
If I win the phone I will get you an extra 1000 followers on Twitter
I would really love the phone but I think it should go to someone that hasn’t had a chance to use Android os yet. I switched from iPhone last year and really love the experience, the only problem is the HTC hero hardware is not man enough for so much multi-tasking!
Big SE fan…the K800 rocked and the W995 is good for now…but with Android Sony Ericcson can´t be beat! Great photos with great new technology!

I’m heading to silicon valley looking for a term sheet! Need an unlocked smartphone so that I can close some deals & keep in touch with McGuire
Best of luck with tech crunch
If I win I can guarantee you that I *won’t* get you a single new follower on Twitter. It might just persuade me away from my beloved 3GS though. Dying to try Android but too tight to spend any cash with six months left on a contract.
A good home for a nice phone.
Hey Pat I Think that i should win the phone. I love all your posts on twitter and find them really useful. This phone would come in handy for all of the calls that i have to make with my volunteer work that i do in Clonmel with the hospital radio and all that.
No one should get it for free. Why not auction it and give to poceeds to a hatian charity.
my handbag was stolen a few weeks ago.. Ive lost everything.. Car keys.. Cash.. Phone.. Camera.. Everything. Ive always been a nokia user… But my partner tells me android with se camera tech would be a good way to replace carrying a phone and digital camera.. My two children are still only 5 and 3… This would help out for Christmas snaps. thanks Pat.
all i have is a Nokia with a cracked screen, and moneys too tight to mention.
Brill. Was just about to buy a new phone. Hope I won’t have to!!!!
My friend ET is looking for it.
I want to give it to my girlfiend.
All she talks about is getting a phone that she can check her “internets” on. I cannot handle much more of these whines.
As an Android convert myself, I’d like to indoctrinate her too…just as I did with Apple Mac computers.

Hi Pat. I’ll be honest and say as a Blackberry user who can’t change phone due to BES for work, if I won the phone it wouldn’t be for me.
My fiance has been saying lately that she would love a *good* smartphone. Her last experience with a smartphone was Vodafone’s disastrous 360 M1 phone. She’s been using a low end LG since the M1 bit the dust. Being a tech geek myself I’ve experienced quite a few phones and I personally think Android is the best OS yet. I’d love to make her happy with winning this phone for her
I deserver it because I’m starting a new business and it would really help me when I’m on the road doing sales to get going

I’m just leaving a comment Hoping it will be me.
Because Margret needs an upgrade from her samung Tocco Lite.
Just voted for Maxroam. And yes I would love to upgrade from HTC Magic. Android lover for life. But yes If I dont win this, I am getting a Desire HD
Been using iPhone for years now – since first launched and I feel I have been brainwashed by the apple marketing department – please give me this device to show me there is more to life than apple??
A beautiful phone Pat…I’d love to win it….what more can I say ? !!
Long Story but Dads phone broke so the wife offered her spare phone…. then her phone went bang so I repaired a banger and gave it to her now im nervous of mine goin bang….. I need it Pat this phone is Lookin at me and it doesn’t look confident….. I’m nervous!!!!
lol
@xActionMaNx
Because I’ve still got a Nokia 3210 that @sabrinadent passed down to me three years ago. I’ve got the mobile equivalent of 70s hand-me-down trousers here.
I could really do with a smartphone because i started college recently doing creative multimedia and I didn’t know how much I’d need one. Ideally winning this would help me stay in touch with all my new Buddys on twitter and update my lecturer when assignments are done!
Sweet looking phone! I’d love to win it. Money has been tight in our house for a while due to purchasing at the height of the boom, and with the hubbie going back to college for anything from 1 – 4 years (if things work out as he wants) there’s not going to be any spare cash for treats for a while to come.
I love the look of iPhones, but could never justify the cash for them. Having played with Androids, I love the user interface and someone I’ll make one of them my next phone and finally have the internet in my pocket!
Considering lying and giving some sob sob story……but couldn’t do it.
Have gone from Palm OS to Win Mobile over the years so would love to experience Android “in the flesh” & this Sony Xperia X8 would be the perfect starter.
Because my iPhone 4 is still smashed and I didn’t win the last phone
You may not believe me but today was kind of a day of reflection for me. I am tired of living my life on the defensive and need to make a few changes. I would like to start taking a little more control and learning a bit more about how the things I rely on work. Android seems to fit my thought process at the moment.
Never owned a Sony/Ericsson, would be nice to check out one of their latest offerings.
Is it too late to win the phone? Am tired of listening to the pretend-weenie sob stories. Go back to the sweepstake Pat, For the love of Jebus, go back to the sweepstake
Hey Pat.
I would love to win this phone because I am without an android phone…even though it’s my preferred platform.
Also, the Xperia has an amazing camera, which I would use to capture all the memories that are presenting themselves since the birth of my second daughter (now 2 months old) and out now there year old…especially with the holidays approaching.
Since I run two personal and work emails through google mail, Android is the perfect mobile os for my lifestyle, both online and off.
I love sony Ericssons, they can do no wrong in my eyes. I used an Android for about two weeks and I grew very fond of it, its so easy to use and it was the first phone I ever used that could download some very useful apps, as well as having an amazing camera and super sensitive display.
I can imagine this phone would be really useful for a Multimedia Student.
I should get it because I like cake.
My son wants this phone for Xmas and his poor Mam (me) is near broke seeing consultants and paying for scans for my sports injured arm… so go on Pat, play Santa today
My current phone se w395 has a cracked screen since the start of september along with the keypad beginning to come off it… so currently trying to save for android phone as refuse to get iphone but my saving for new phone aint going too well and to add to all this i just voted for maxroam
Been developing for iPhone for the last 8 months with minor success. Looking to add Droid experience to my portfolio, especially with corporate customers. Was about to buy a HTC recently but my car died…ergo:cashpoor.Just cant afford the different pieces of hardware required to present a serious face to customers. Drop me this cutie and I’ll knock up a prototype app for you/Maxroam price $0 – just cos your worth it!
So that my wife will stop nicking my iPhone.
You could save a marriage here Pat. Think of the kids!
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 needs to come my way as a teenager it will do wonders for my image
P.S. and to make all my school friends green with envy
Because I’m a student with a need to get an Android phone for a thesis that I need to start and I am pretty sure Santa is going to ignore me again. I also have a missing front tooth at present its best for all concerned if I can avoid talking to ppl face to face (although some would say that’s for the best anyway)
I would love this phone as I appear to be losing hours of my life waiting for apps to open on my iPhone 3G. Seriously, 5 seconds to open a text?
Don’t bother trying to start up the camera, whatever you were taking a photo of will have died before the camera app has launched. Experia would be the job!
Ok here I am again trying to get a new phone – as stated before mine is ancient!
Ok here is the story behind it: I bought a new basic phone coming home from New Zealand the end of 2008 and it ended up falling into the toilet, my brother gave me an old Nokia phone of his and I’ve been using that since. The screen is scratched/hard to see, buttons are old and faded. It’s black and white, no colour. I need for my course in creative multimedia – a major update technology wise as I am out of touch – literally! I need Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc, a good camera for photos. As stated previously, I only ever used my phone for texts and calls – now I need more. Please help this poor student out who also needs to buy a laptop and second-hand car to get to college (preferably instead of the bus), as well as a proper modern new phone. Thanks so much! Ann

Because my daughter would be over the moon to inherit my iPhone. And I would be over Saturn to get to finally try Android. As a Google fan this would be the phone for me!
She looks purty, I’d take her out for a nice meal and bring her home to my parents.
I just broke up with my Samsung of 3 years and really need a reliable, more …”trendy” companion
This phone has everything I need to progress in my new venture into social media. As one of the many redundant unemployed and now at college to seek a new path in life, the Xperia x8 would be a blessing in disguise! Good luck with the awards !
Hi
I am using a grey screen nokia and was hoping to pick up a new phone for Christmas
this is now not going to happen due to family difficulties.
I like the Nokia but its just too old, I would really like to win the Xperia as I am the last one in my year with this old phone.
I will only borrow the phone from you until I have the money to buy a new one and will send you back the new phone once I have saved enough to buy it
I hope I win new phone, I know I’m not gonna win, but still small hope telling me to try, the phone is very nice.
i’m a poor student! I actually am in need of a phone! *puppydog eyes* pwease?
Wicked phone, but would have expected it to have a better quality camera….
Well, I’m still a student looking at a large hike in the registration fees next year as well as the possibility of having to pay full fees as well, so I’d never be able to scrounge together the cash to buy a decent new smartphone for at least a few years now.
And the bear REALLY wants it now!
All these students are getting free education already, when was the last time you seen a sober student…
Morning Ireland:
Question: So how bad is it that the IMF had to rescue Latvia and cut education by 50% ?
Answer:Well, both my parents and grandparents had to endure 2 World Wars and forced relocation to Siberia, so it is not too bad.
I suggest that you donate the prize to Evert Bopp and his Wi-Fi technology rescue project in Hiati… or another deserving cause -:)
So I think I should win this phone for 2 reasons. The first being that I am a mother of 4 and an constantly on the phone regarding my kiddos or their activities so I need something reliable and to help keep me organized. The 2nd is that I live in a very rural area and have only 2 carriers available. How awesome it would be to have the kind of technology the device contains and also to be the first in the area with any such device. Thank you for the opportunity to win such a wonderful device.
